2019 Rogers Scholar Ambassador Charleston Dixon, at left, a junior at Barbourville High School, presents law enforcement officers with backpacks he assembled for a Drug Endangered Children’s Program. He donated backpacks, filled with children’s clothing, food, a toy and coloring book, and personal care items, for law enforcement officers to use when responding to a child endangerment situation. The backpacks, assembled for infants and children between the ages of 1-12 years of age, were distributed to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Barbourville City Police, and Kentucky State Police. In addition, Dixon collaborated with the Knox County UNITE Coalition to host a Drug Endangered Children’s Program training at the September coalition meeting. Dixon is the son of Marcia Dixon of Barbourville.
