2019 Rogers Scholar Madalyn Dudley and Natalie Underwood, activities director for Somerset Nursing & Rehab

2019 Rogers Scholar Madalyn Dudley has always loved Christmas. As a child, her favorite part of the holidays was decorating the Christmas tree.

When she learned some residents at Somerset Nursing and Rehab did not have their own Christmas tree, the Pulaski County High School student knew she had to do something to make the holidays a little brighter for the residents. For her Rogers Scholars community service project, she decided to donate and decorate miniature Christmas trees for patients to put by their bedsides.

“I have always been blessed to spend each Christmas surrounded by decorations and presents, so this year I wanted to ensure that residents had that same opportunity,” Dudley said. Activities director for Somerset Nursing & Rehab Natalie Underwood, standing beside Madalyn, said it was “sweet of her to think of our residents who don’t have many decorations.”

Madalyn is the daughter of Tim and Christine Dudley of Bronston.
