2019 Rogers Scholar and Somerset High School student Brookelyn Hopkins is helping to keep essential health care workers safe during COVID-19.

Hopkins donated face masks to employees of Hospice of Lake Cumberland for her Rogers Scholars community service project.

She had been sewing face masks for family and friends and decided to reach out to Hospice to see if their employees could use some additional masks.

“It was great to help the community,” Hopkins said. Hospice was thrilled to receive the donation. One of the employees said, “Our workers will love these, and they are much needed.”

Each graduate of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program is required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
