2019 Rogers Scholar and Jackson County High School student Sarah Marks is “Helping Those Who Help Us” by donating school supplies to classroom teachers.

During the last school year, Marks distributed bags of donated school supplies to every teacher in Jackson County High School as a way to show support for educators and to meet an essential need in the classroom.

“This project is one that I will remember for years after I graduate high school and college,” Marks said. “Seeing the expression on the faces of my teachers is something that will bring me joy for a long time. I never thought a Ziplock bag with school supplies would bring so much joy.”

St. Paul’s Catholic Church graciously donated the school supplies. Marks packaged and distributed the donated items for teachers to use, when needed, during the school year.

“I am very thankful for the thoughtfulness of this young lady,” said teacher Ashley Gabbard. “Often times as high school teachers, we don’t get supplies that we put on our lists. Sarah took it upon herself to provide teachers in our high school with goody bags of supplies. Every single time that I went for a new dry erase marker I thought of her and appreciated the fact that our needs were remembered.”
