Thanks to the generosity of 2020 Rogers Scholar Rikki Staniford, residents at The Jordan Center, a family-oriented nursing facility in Louisa, KY, and Lawrence County Housing Authority are receiving a new comfort item – pillows.

Rikki, a student at Lawrence County High School, organized a pillow drive for her Rogers Scholars community service project. She donated 72 pillows to residents at The Jordan Center and 58 pillows to Lawrence County Housing Authority.

“My future goal is to be in the health-care profession and my heart hurts for shut-ins, especially during COVID-19,” she said. “Pillows tend to make everyone more comfortable.”

Each graduate of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program is required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
