2020 Rogers Scholar and Monroe County High School student Ellie Copas donates three benches made from more than 350 pounds of recycled plastic lids and cups to Candy Spears, director of Signature HealthCare of Monroe County Rehab and Wellness Center. The project, “Seating for Our Seniors,” will provide an outdoor visiting area for patients, staff, and visitors.

“I have enjoyed seeing the community come together and provide so much support for this project. Realizing the impact the benches can make on the residents’ daily lives has brought me an immense amount of joy.”

Each graduate of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program is required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
