Through her Project: Girls Empowered program, 2020 Rogers Scholar and Leslie County High School student Charity Sizemore encourages young women to be more confident.

“I have witnessed struggles with mental health regarding confidence through myself, my peers, and other students. Project Girls Empowered helps girls, like myself, to become uplifted by the doubts they face. I am passionate about helping others because I can relate to their situations.”

Charity hopes to expand the empowerment project throughout the Leslie County School District in partnership with the 21st Century program.

Each graduate of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program is required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com
