2020 Rogers Scholar and Somerset High School student Elaina Barnett raised more than $1,200 from an online bake sale to support First Christian Church. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to help purchase building materials for picnic tables.

“My Rogers Scholars community service project was a way for me to raise money for my church in a time when normal fundraisers have not been allowed due to COVID-19. As a result of this project, several picnic tables will be built for my youth group, other church members, and community members to enjoy.” The church is in the process of building a new gym and picnic area.

Each graduate of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program is required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
