2021 Rogers Scholar Max Yeast organized a Bassin’ for Kids fishing tournament at Waitsboro Recreation Area to support Somerset High School’s Family Resource Center.

The Somerset High School student raised approximately $400 from the event and individual donations to purchase Christmas gifts and dinner for a family in need.

“This project was very important to me. I really wanted to join together two activities that are really important to me: fishing and community service.”

Each graduate of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program is required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
