2021 Rogers Scholar Abigail Sears donated blankets to the Jessamine County Homeless Shelter, Jessamine County Animal Shelter, and Southland Church’s Lexington campus. She received a total of 140 blankets in her “Cover Up Kentucky” community service project.
“This project is a big impact to those who I donate to, and getting to see the joy in their faces when I delivered the blankets made me realize that many people take what they have for granted. This project has opened my eyes, in a way that I should always do what I can to help my community, and that I am very blessed to have what I do.”
Graduates of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program are required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
