2021 Rogers Scholar and Adair County High School student Ashton Flatt organized the Green River clean-up project. She asked students, community members, friends and family to pitch in and pick up litter and debris on May 13, in preparation for the summer tourist season.

“The lake is a place for gathering. Family and friends are important to me. Having a clean place to go and hang out means a lot to everyone. It’s easier to take kids places when you know they are safe.”

Graduates of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program are required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
