2021 Rogers Scholar and Somerset High School student Jack Bruner raised money for the Mayfield football players who lost everything in the Western Kentucky tornado for his community service project.

Somerset and Mayfield are in the same class in football and the two teams played each other in the 2019 AA Football State Championship.

“If you know football, you know the word, ‘brotherhood.’ Many think it’s just about your own team, but I think if you play football, you’re a part of my brotherhood and I wanted to help my brothers – and their families – in their time of need. Win or lose on the football field, we are all brothers at the end of the day.”

Graduates of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program are required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
