2021 Rogers Scholar Abigail “Abby” Meek, a student at Paul G. Blazer High School, organized a canned food drive in coordination with the Ashland YMCA to benefit the Ashland Community Kitchen.
Scott Campbell, standing with Abby, executive director of the Ashland YMCA, volunteered space at the facility to serve as a drop-off site for the “Together We Can!” food drive.
“Knowing that my service project would positively impact people in my community was the reason I chose to help the Ashland Community Kitchen. If I can make a small contribution to helping others have a hot meal, then my efforts are well worth it.”
Graduates of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program are required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
