2021 Rogers Scholar Ethan Martin, a student at Estill County High School, donated pet and cleaning supplies to the Estill County Animal Shelter for his community service project.

“When I was 6 or 7, I fell in love with a puppy at the pet store. My dad made me promise to donate to the shelter in exchange for me getting the puppy for my birthday, which was just a few weeks away. The first time I donated, I felt a sense of joy in giving to the shelter, and it’s become a recurring thing ever since.”

Graduates of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program are required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
