2021 Rogers Scholar and Bath County High School student Mason Lyons organized a food drive to support the school’s backpack program for his community service project.
As an incentive to encourage students to participate, the name of each donor who brought in non-perishable food items was placed in a drawing for a chance to win a $25 gift card.
“This project truly meant a lot to me and knowing that I helped my fellow classmates makes me feel good. It also showed me that I can make a difference in the lives of those around me.”
Graduates of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program are required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
