2022 Rogers Scholar Ava Laymance organized a “Your Voice Your Vote” voter registration drive for her community service project. She set up a voter registration table in the foyer of Taylor County High School.
“This project is the first major step I have taken toward my future, a future solely revolving around serving the public. Serving my fellow classmates in this way reignited my love for democracy. This project proved to me that if people are willing to protect and be engaged in democracy, then democracy will prosper for decades to come.”
Graduates of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program are required to complete a community service project.
