2022 Rogers Scholar Alexander Slone built and donated this Blessing Box to the Knott County Housing Authority for his community service project. Alexander stocked the box with children’s books, nonperishable food items, and other essential necessities.

“It means a lot to finally be able to help people. It’s my main goal in life, so this is simply amazing to be able to complete a project that will provide for so many people for a long time. It also gives me a stake in the community because it’s my job to keep the Blessing Box stocked with items.”

Graduates of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program are required to complete a community service project.
