2022 Rogers Scholar Ella Bussell spent several days this summer hosting a Girls with Gifts STEM camp for fourth- and fifth-grade students in Rockcastle County.
Ella, a student at Rockcastle County High School, guided nine young girls through the exploration of STEM and empowered them to continue to develop their skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
“Girls with Gifts is special to me. I was the same young girl they are, only a few short years ago. Anything I can do to empower young girls in Rockcastle County is well worth while.”
Graduates of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program are required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
