Many people are unaware of the dangers of radon. If left undetected, this dangerous gas can be deadly.

To raise public awareness about radon, 2022 Rogers Scholar and Monroe County High School student Jade-Madison Turner applied for – and received – an $800 WE KARMA Cares grant. She purchased 80 radon test kits and distributed them to residents of Monroe County.

“This community service project meant a lot to me because I was able to prevent unnecessary illnesses and spread awareness of the harm radon can cause.”

Graduates of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program are required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
