2019 Rogers Scholar Emma Carter, of Monticello, recently donated homemade PPE masks for employees of the Wayne County School District who are delivering meals throughout the community. Emma made 50 masks at home out of materials she already had. Additionally her family, friends, and neighbors donated materials once she ran out.

“After making the delivery of face masks to my school staff, I saw just how grateful they were to receive the PPE and they expressed the shortage they were experiencing,” Carter said.

Each graduate of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program is required to complete a community service project. Even though Carter has completed her project, she hopes to continue making masks for those who need it. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
