2020 Rogers Scholar and Southwestern High School student Emma Johnson distributes recess bags filled with toys and school supplies to kindergarten students at Nancy Elementary School.

“This project meant a lot to me, because Nancy Elementary School is where my mom is a teacher and I plan to be a future teacher. One of the classrooms was taught by my former kindergarten teacher, so it was really special to me.”

Each graduate of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program is required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
