2021 Rogers Scholar and Bell County High School student Madeline Allen wanted to make sure residents at Middlesboro Nursing and Rehabilitation facility were not forgotten on a very special day.

She encouraged Blue Crew club members to “Adopt a Valentine” and support the 87 nursing home residents.

“This project brought joy not only into the residents’ lives, but into my life as well. I loved the fact that other members of the Blue Crew’s eyes were opened to caring about people other than themselves and that we have been able to make an impact on the residents. I am so proud of how my peers pitched in to help as a team to do something for our community.”

Graduates of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program are required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
