2022 Rogers Scholar Ashlynn Vaught donated items to the Pulaski County Alzheimer’s Center in memory of her great-grandfather, Luke Harness, for her community service project.

Ashlynn, a Pulaski County High School student, collected donations from the Immanuel Baptist Church youth group, Denham Street Baptist Church, and other community supporters.

“This cause is important to me. My great-grandfather died from this disease, and I have seen the impact that Alzheimer’s has had on families and caregivers. The Alzheimer’s Center provides a nurturing, safe environment for clients while allowing relief for their caregivers. I wanted to help in memory of my great-grandfather.”

Graduates of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program are required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
