2022 Rogers Scholar and Southwestern High School student Jacob Whitaker is fighting dementia one nursing home at a time.
Jacob set up a charity to accept donations for puzzle books and magazines to help promote good mental health in his “Fighting Dementia” community service project.

“This project was very impactful to me. During COVID, mental health issues were exponentially increased due to not being able to see family and friends. I decided to fight these issues the only way I knew how, by doing puzzles and allowing easier access to brain exercises.”

Graduates of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program are required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
