2022 Rogers Scholar and Morgan County High School student Shelby Cole organized a toy drive for children in Breathitt, Knott, and Perry counties in the wake of the Eastern Kentucky flood relief efforts.

“When I was five years old, my family lost everything in a tornado. I can relate to these children. It warms my heart that I was able to help put smiles on their faces and hopefully provide some comfort during such a difficult time in their lives.”

Graduates of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program are required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
