2022 Rogers Scholar Todd Prater donated Teddy Bears to the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office for officers to give to children who experience traumatic situations.

Todd, a Floyd Central High School student, sold dog treats to help pay for the cost of the Teddy Bears. The community service project was dedicated in memory of K-9 Officer Drago, who was shot and killed in the line of duty in 2022.

“This project meant a great deal to me because I plan to pursue a career in law enforcement. I was truly overwhelmed by the support from the community and was able to more than double the number of Teddy Bears donated in memory of K-9 Drago.”

Graduates of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program are required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
