2022 Rogers Scholar Emma Gay knows how important it is for young girls to attend their high school prom.

She collected donations for this year’s Leslie County High School prom and donated dresses, shoes, makeup, and jewelry to the school’s youth service center, so students who did not have these items could attend prom.

“This project was important to me because prom is a very memorable, fun high school experience. I wanted all girls to be able to experience the prom and feel confident without having to worry about the cost.”

Graduates of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program are required to complete a community service project. For more information about Rogers Scholars, visit www.centeryouthprograms.com.
